Châtel Liberté
If you would prefer a bit more relaxation, or if you are looking for a less expensive alternative, there is the Châtel Liberté (130 km) ski pass. With the Châtel Liberté pass, you will ski in part of the French and Swiss Portes du Soleil. From La Chapelle d’Abondance, you ski in the Swiss resort of Torgon to Super Châtel and then towards Morgins, but also to the French ski areas of Linga and Pré-la-Joux. The area offers 61 ski lifts and 73 slopes, including 7 black, 23 red, 29 blue and 12 green.
La Chapelle d’Abondance – Torgon
This pass offers access to the charming, enclosed beginners area Crêt-Beni (in Chapelle d’Abondance). Thanks to its location, the area has guaranteed snow with many green and blue slopes and a challenging red slope. With the free ski bus, you can be here in under 5 minutes.
In addition, with this pass, you can ski the slopes from La Chapelle d’ Abondance to the Swiss ski resort of Torgon. The area is famous for its long, wide descents and beautiful slopes among the pine forests. From Torgon, a connection is available with the rest of the Portes du Soleil.
Complimentary ski busses ride back and forth between Crêt-Béni and the rest of the area. This ski pass offers access to 75 kilometers of slopes.
Skiing lessons
We work together with the Ecole de Ski Francais in La Chapelle d’Abondance and ESI in Châtel. We have also had very good experiences with the Snowride ski school. They offer private lessons at all levels and for all ages. Just about all of the instructors speak good English. There are also interesting lessons to follow for the experienced skier, such as off-slope or telemark skiing.
Visit de website of ESF La Chapelle or of ESI Châtel for more information. The lessons can be scheduled at Esprit Montagne.
Equipment
The Trincaz Sport sports shop is located in the center of la Chapelle d’Abondance. In this shop, you will find a wind choice of equipment, for everyone from the beginner to the highly experienced skier. Upon arrival, you will receive a voucher from us for a 10% discount at Trincaz Sport.
Ski tours
There is also plenty of skiing fun to be had in the mountains around the area and in places where the lifts don’t go. With skins under your touring skis, you can leave the beaten path, climb up and ski down through pristine powdery snow. You will arrive at breathtaking places where you would never come as an ordinary skier. You can also purchase a day pass for the ski area to reach the starting point of a climb via a number of lifts.
The Hotel Esprit Montagne organizes ski tour weeks upon request. Under the guidance of an experienced, local, English-speaking mountain guide, we take a trip each day with gorgeous descents. The trips are decided upon in consultation with the guide and depend on the skill level of the group. In addition, sufficient attention is given to trip planning, equipment and of course risk management, in particular avalanche drills.
